This and That

Woe is me! Another birthday. Ok, I know,it's tongue-in-cheek. I am very fortunate to have another birthday and have many blessings in my life.
Even though I had much angst about it, I had a very nice birthday yesterday. Weird that I should be bothered by turning 43, but not 40. This happened when I turned 28 also, but I didn't mind 30. Strange. I just wanted to show you one lovely gift that I received...a whole fairy world! I just love them!I've been working on this 'baby'. She is obviously not finished. The poor thing needs a face among other things. And I'm working on her little basinette, which of course needs a pillow and blankie too. What will this piece of stitching be? I won't tell yet and it looks nothing of the finished product. This thing has me grumbling entirely through my own fault. You might see a couple black smudges on the cloth if you look closely. It is due to my own lack of focus and turning the piece the wrong direction TWICE; hence stitching in the wrong spot. Did I say TWICE? So, I'm mad at it(misplaced aggression, I know). And now I'm off to view the DVD instructions for my new Photoshop Elements program that I am SO thrilled with! I have no idea what you can do with it, but I do know that many people just love it! Have a fun-filled day!

So Sorry!

Thank you all for your kind comments. I've been meaning to visit for days! Something is wrong with my browser and pages take a terminally long time to load, let alone comment logs or loading pictures! When I get it hashed out, I shall return!

Temecula Duck Pond

Quote from the hat: See life through an artists eye.-unknown

I seem to be learning that slowly through photography. I envy and applaud you with the artist's eye that comes natural.

As the nomenclature indicates, there are a load of ducks here.
Let's cross the bridge and walk around the pond.
Run away! Run away!Ahhhhhh.
Punk rock duck!Interesting sculpture. They have no faces, which leaves you to ponder. Get it: 'pond' er. Ba dum dum! Thank you folks, I'll be here all week!(insert courtesy laugh here)
There's actually a memorial for war veteran's here. I just love how the plaques are incorporated into the sidewalk. This male sculpture is part of it. Hmm....what is he looking at...ahhh, nice view of the pond.Quick ladies, the park ranger is in the bathroom! When ducks break rules...

Veteran's Park

It was somewhat strange in that there was no memorial here. Not a single marker. There are bunnies everywhere. Can you spot them all?

Also, they went all out and put a lattice around the extravagant bathroom facilities.

Ok, you should have found 7 bunnies! Happy trails! Hint: Click the photos to enlarge and you will see a few less obvious ones!

I'm on a Roll!

I've got the scrappin' bug big time lately! Again with the grandson here. What can I say? My teenage son rarely even lets me take a photo, much less one with him SMILING. Sheesh! Anyway, Jeremy and his grandpa(papa) are both fanatical about trains, so I know they will love this.I wanted to show you the title in detail. I made the letters look like a railroad track(I believe). What I did was put rubber bands around foam stamps, then ink and stamp.

Breaking Rules!

What?! Pink on a boy's scrapbook page?! Yes. I am a rule-breaker. I wanted to capture the up and down movement of this 'Kangaroo Hop' ride. I put the 'up' photo in the top corner and the 'down' photo in the bottom corner. The striped paper, paper strips, and triangle patterned paper(think arrows), help this.Since you can't read the story, I will tell you. The little baby on the left had ridden this ride about 3 times with TONS of spectators. That funny little guy just pealed with uncontrolled giggles EVERY time! He had a fit each time it was over. Everybody was mesmerized with him! Anyway, we talked Jeremy on the right into going on it. As you can see from the top photo---he does not look too confident or happy once it went up. However, as it went down, his cheery little neighbor broke into PEALS of laughter once again. So, Jeremy put on a brave face and FAKED a laugh on the way down. Thank goodness for the baby or I don't think Jeremy would have done well AT ALL!!

Wildlife Pics...sort of

Sorry that I haven't been around. I wasn't well, I'm fine now. This is just a couple interesting(to me) pics I took yesterday.

Mr. Grasshopper on my window. And yet another red-tailed hawk; only I got a closer shot this time.I will stop by and visit everyone later today! Have a wonderful day.

Calle Aragon(#3)

And another little one. I almost gave this a fly-by too, but the dog had to pee.

Look a baby tree growing in the roots.
Look CLOSER. heh!
And we're off to find a more adventurous park! Happy trails!

Bahia Vista Park(#1)

Don't blink.

I said DON'T blink! You missed it!
(I didn't even get out of the car, clearly.) Only about 1/8 of a basketball court. Onward!

Margarita Community Park(#11)

QOD: A fair face may fade, but a beautiful soul lasts forever.-unknown

True dat!Mission update: Find abandoned tennis ball in need of new home. Accomplished. We found one near the tennis courts today! Finally. And Xena couldn't be happier. She has claimed it.One word for our park experience today. WEIRD.

For instance, why is this student desk sitting here in the parking lot?Why does the picnic area have sand like a play area? What else would you use the courts for? Ping pong?Even the tree is bent in a weird way. This isn't exactly weird once I figured it out. More, unusual. I figure this is a street hockey arena. Agree?Hmm...a piece of netting that I can use in my new collage. And that is that. Happy trails!

Play Day

On Friday, D called from work and told me to think of something that I wanted to do on Saturday. Knowing that we don't always like the same activities; I came up with 3 things.

1-Walk around 'Old Town' and visit the farmer's market.
2-Have a picnic at Lake Harveston.
3-Go to the movies and see 'Mama Mia'.

Well, surprise, surprise! D said, "We could do most or all of that". So here's a little tour of my fun day out. First we went to Old Town Temecula. This is fun right away because they have kept the old West feel to the buildings down here; even though most of it is refurbished.

This signs reside inside the antique store.

Lovely little specialty shops like cigar, cheese, jerky, nuts, spices, and most importantly loads of antique(aka art supply) shops!

I purchased these cigar boxes amongst the myriad of them.
Would you like to ride on the trolley?Check this out! A wine store, with tasting bar. But, the tiled building you see here...it is INSIDE the shop. Totally cool! And on to the farmers' market. We purchase green tomatoes. I've never had fried green tomatoes(love the movie and the book!) and have always wanted to make them. )They were divine by the way.)What is this thing?Lots of pretty flowers, brightly calling to me.D's back---actually I was looking at the hanging pots of flowers. And here's a close-up.My son.Pause to partake of a banana-strawberry-mango-soy smoothie.Taste?Yummy sparklies and baubles. These gentlemen were playing handmade flutes. Delightful! And the old firehouse at the other end of the market. Then I had to pop into this scrapbook store. The boys waited outside the 'Scrappin' Divas'. Lots of cool stuff here for future reference! No buying for me, just a quick peek today or else the boys would never let me wander into other shops! Here's me.Fun imbedded metal art at the entrance to one antique store.Charming porches surround most of the buildings. This building housed only a jewelery story and people were refurbishing the other empty ones. Love the windmill(I found these nifty rusty washers-free art stuff!) and the old cart filled with plants.

A quaint sign leads you to a tiny, cozy courtyard. I just had to find out what a Crochet Cafe was all about. Really, no cafe; just super cool yarns. They had bamboo and corn yarn as well as yarn made of recycled materials. The textures were lovely!
D and my son were weary of my picture taking. Ya think?! Another neat store had loads of hard to find stamps--the pic didn't turn out here. The old jail house is back here too. Spooky, yet quaint. And a bench to rest your weary feet. With a darling birdhouse above.Back to D's car. It is SO out of place here! On to the picnic! We sat here and looked out over Harveston Lake(man-made). Silly me, I forgot to photograph our lunch! We had:

Lettuce wraps with ham, cheese, onion, and Dijon.
Green apple wedges.
Black and green olives.
Deviled eggs.

Ahhhhh. Breath.

We had company as we ate.Last, but not least we were off to see Mama Mia at the movies. We saw Wall-E instead as it was 2 hours till the next showing of 'Mama'. Ok, Wall-E was not great. It has a wonderful message about taking care of our planet and I am very into 'green' thinking(love the new channel Planet Green, don't you?), but the movie was sad as Wall-E was more pathetic than cute. Some girls in the bathroom that I met(hey, I talk to anyone!) felt the same way. The directors missed the mark on this one.

All in all, a perfect day out for me! Have a great day!

Cards That Pop!

Black makes colors really pop, there's no doubt about it. It's why we go to the classic 'little black dress' for spec...
